Our project: Computer classroom in the Om Shanthi Garden

Dear all!

The response to our plan to build a classroom for our widow and village children in the garden of Om Shanthi Old Age Home (see my newsletter of March 24) has been unreservedly positive. Here again, in brief, is the great importance of computer education for the children of our young widows, not excluding the youngsters in our village.
The fact that Indian IT experts are in demand worldwide has nothing to do with the lack of digital education among our poor rural youth. Here too, the gap is wide. If the children of our young widows are to have a chance of finding a job after government school, then computer and English skills are essential. These are only taught in expensive private schools or courses in the city and are not accessible to our village children due to the distance and cost.
Our plan is to build a small classroom with a toilet in our garden, where computer and English lessons will take place after school from 4 p.m. onwards.
A cost estimate with a sketch is attached. The costs for the building and furnishings for 5 places, plus the salary for two teachers for one year, amount to a total of 13,700 euros. This sum seems to us to be a good investment for the future of our widow children.

At the same time, we are “killing a second bird with this stone”:

A nice, close contact with our dear old women in Om Shanthi, who are still ostracized as widows, will result and give the lie to the old superstition (widows = witches). This is how we actively change consciousness. (see our logo above!)

Here again our bank account:

Paypal transfers on our website are also possible. Everything arrives!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has made our work with the widows possible through your support. Without you, NONE of the good deeds that have happened so far could have taken place.

One final request: If you no longer wish to be on our mailing list and no longer wish to receive our newsletter, please send a short e-mail to: annelieetter7@gmail.com. That’s good news too!

Finally, some good news: Trisha, Kamala’s daughter, has found a godmother who will sponsor her education. I am enclosing this report as a PDF, as many of you were unable to open it last time.

Thank you for your kind support and best wishes from all of us

Anna (1st chairwoman of Om Shanthi e.V.)
